Jesse Binger

JesseBingerAuthorOfficialHeadshot2

Jesse Binger writes crime fiction rooted in the diners, dive bars, and dead-end streets of the American Northeast. His debut novel, The Penitent Hours, a literary crime noir set on the wintry shores of Long Island, is currently on submission to publishers. He is represented by Tommy Dean at Rosecliff Literary.

His short stories have been published by or are forthcoming at Bristol Noir, Bending Genres, Close to the Bone, Yellow Mama, Literary Garage, Pistol Jim Press, Underbelly Press, and Revolution John.

A New York native, Jesse grew up devouring old detective novels and noir — the paperbacks of Block, MacDonald, and Leonard — before discovering the literary crime writers who would shape his voice: Lehane, Pelecanos, Boyle, Vlautin.

Before turning to fiction, Jesse spent over two decades leading teams in the tech and business world. He has also written, directed, and produced independent short films that screened at festivals worldwide, including the Soho International Film Festival. His unproduced screenplay Swipe Right was a finalist for Best Screenplay at the DC Shorts Film Festival.

He lives in Central New Jersey with his wife Sharon and their Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Ruby. His son Derek is currently in law school in New York City. When he's not writing, he's reading crime fiction, watching character-driven films, or making another cup of coffee.
